DON PASQUALE by Gaetano Donizetti is an opera buffa aimed to be appreciated by a huge audience. Directed by Riccardo Chailly and staged by David Livermore, the opera will see Rosa Feola again on the stage of the Teatro alla Scala after the performance in La Gazza Ladra from last year’ season of All’Opera. The old bachelor Don Pasquale decides to marry and produce an heir just to spite his disobedient nephew Ernesto, who insists on marrying for love rather than money. Pasquale’s friend Dr Malatesta provides the perfect bride. But Malatesta is a double agent, and nothing and nobody are quite what they seem. Chaos ensues, but love wins the day.
